Am I the only one who is more worried about signing a rb? We basically didn't have a rb all last season and still don't have one or really been linked with any. Frimpong just doesn't look good enough and Bradley, as much as I love him, he has two things to prove, 1, that he can stay fit and 2, that he is actually good enough to be our first choice rb.

A rb that can play cb would be good but I feel rb should be one of our main priorities.

It's an absolute necessity in my book. I believe we're working on it in the background, but because of the amount of attention marquee signings get, we won't hear much about it until we sign a winger.

I have asked my contact about our right back situation & he said Kounde is being looked at because of his ability to play both right & cbk, but also don't count out Spence!!... Personally, I think Spence would be ideal playing under AI as his tactics suit his style.

Why are we in this position regarding Joe Gomez? Great lad but should have been sold on.
Why are we letting certain players who aren't first team players decide what they want to do? Jones, Gomez and Macca should have been replaced already with better players.

Also Chiesa as well.
We don't owe anyone anything, especially not squad players going into their last year of their contracts.

Agreed, I'd be willing to give Jones an opportunity to improve under Iraola as he's only a squad player, but I'd ship Macca, Gomez, and Chiesa out in the morning. The problem is, of course, we have other priorities in a hyperinflated market.

Good point, it might be worth Chiesa sticking around. He can be a sub to rest Isak, whose minutes need managing.
Gomez's injury, I am hoping, will force the club's hand to seal the deal for Zabarnyi, which to me is a no brainer, and, in light of Geo still recovering and Jacquet not playing for over five months and not yet ready to fully feature in pre-season matches, is a priority.

The only real explanation can be that we're asking too much for them, Ron, or no one will meet their wage demands.

It's known we've been trying to offload Curtis all season, Chiesa for probably three or four windows, Gomez similar. All that time we've been paying their wages and arguably only Curtis has played enough minutes to warrant it.

I think Curtis is ok, so I'm surprised no one's taken him.

The injury records of the other two explain the lack of takers.

Macca is a bit different in the sense he plays at a high level internationally, so again you'd think a Spanish or Italian club would take him. His slow game would suit those leagues. I'm guessing we want too much for him, as I'm sure clubs there would meet his wage demands.

Four squad places, and we only get any value out of CJ.

Anyone got any insight into whether Richard Hughes is actually working on transfers for Al Hilal?

Only seen it mentioned once online - but if that is the case, surely the club can’t be happy? And should have acted to get someone in to replace RH sooner?

I know nothing about it, but it would be the epitome of stupidity if it were anything more than rumors, as he's currently under contract; this would be a massive breach of the terms of his employment, and he'd face regulatory sanctions and be liable for financial damage.

If it does turn out to be true, it proves without doubt he was never fit for the role.

This will be unpopular but I hope we don't sign anymore wide players this window.

The money being talked about is huge. For players that are relatively unproven IMO.

Iraola has got this job partly because of the great work he did with players like Semenyo, Kroupi, Rayan to name a few. Give Rio and Morrison oppourtunities as well as more minutes for Chiesa. If they aren't up to it reevaluate in January.

In the same vein, give Nyoni a shot at replacing Macca. he can't be much worse than Macca was last season.

Rb, and a cb depending on Leoni's development will do me fine. The last window where we had very little business worked out well if I recall.

Rio is just a kid and needs to be gently bled through. Morrison has never played a senior game. I agree with some of your sentiment, but AI is not a miracle worker. We need more players and quality.

? You must be having a laugh! Any more wide players? We only signed 1. We lost Diaz and Salah, 2 high-output senior wingers, and in their place we have a very raw 17-year-old and a 21-year-old with just 1 season of top-flight football under his belt. Thank Fowler, you're not in charge of recruitment.

Thank the lord, the Gomez fans don't run our club, it'd be lunacy to persevere with him and pay those wages for next to no output. Wait a minute, he's been with us for a decade so the Jo fan club must have a few members in the club hierarchy as well.



Daft as it sounds, Chewy, I think we're in the minority thinking Jo's time is well up.

Edwards gone, RH is staying until September to see through the transfer window. He's been assigned a key priority to secure a replacement for Mo, with other transfer business being handled by colleagues, to

RH has either left, or is working in a part time capacity for us whilst also doing business in Saudi, while our new coach settles in with a squad with glaring holes in it,

To Mike G is now doing RH's job, despite knowing very little about football, but no doubt having a strong commercial background.

The club needs to get itself together off the field. The hedge funders are good business people, but seem to stumble about a bit when it comes to running our football operations.
