Starting to realise when the media mouthpieces tell us something, the opposite usually happens. 1/2 days ago we get told we'll be waiting until after the WC to make signings....
Starting to think maybe they don't know anything, it's just guesswork, or they're getting fed a line.

18 Jun 2026 08:29:31
Ed1, I don't know if someone already asked you this. But have you seen Victor Munoz played before? Seen a lot of La Liga fans saying that Osasuna is one of the team that play fast attacking football, and he is one of the main main in the side. So suits Iraola playing style I would assume.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, not had time to watch any La Liga last season.}

18 Jun 2026 08:54:34
You reckoned that we will bring Diomande in and that would be it for the forward positions? And then we will be focusing on other positions.

Agree2

{Ed001's Note - and?}

18 Jun 2026 09:23:22
I mean that we bring in Munoz as the forward that can cover all three attacking positions, and Diomande as the main Salah replacement. There is talk about how we were still interested in Barcola even after we signed Munoz. I just think that it's either Diomande + Munoz or Barcola + Munoz.

I just can't see us spending a lot of money on 3 attackers while we still need to address the defense, especially RB and midfield/defensive midfielder.

I remembered weeks back you mentioned that we were interested in Kounde somehow. Is that still the case?

We have lost Salah. Looks like we might lose Gakpo and/or Chiesa, and Hugo is out until Christmas (according to L'Equipe), potentially four attackers down on last season. We've brought in Munoz, looks like we might be bringing Diomande in, but that still leaves us 2 players light up top, not forgetting that Isak has been known to pick up the odd injury along the way.

I think Barcola may still be on the cards and perhaps one other - ideally a CF who doesn't know the offside rule, couldn't score in a brothel and causes chaos wherever he plays.

Yeah, that rumour just doesn't seem to be going away, despite denials, WDWIV.

Maybe in memory of our very own Crazy Horse, who I was too young to see play, but really enjoyed on QoS, we should bring Darwin back and christen him our very own Loco Burro?

Munoz and Ngumoha will battle it out for the LW slot this season. We won’t pursue Barcola now, which is a shame.
Diomande and Elliott for the RW should suffice. Elliott already back training, trying to show his value.

I would like to see Palestra next. He looks good. We should just pay what Atalanta want, £45m I believe.
I am keen to see a midfielder from Sadiki, Sangare, Kone or another signed up soon.

18 Jun 2026 08:23:03
Is Elliot getting a new deal then or are we losing another player on a free?

Agree2

18 Jun 2026 08:35:49
Not watched a lot of Palestra, believe he's more of a defensive rb, bit of a unit, 6.1 for a rb. Can he cover, or played at cb? Could be a bit of shrewd business to cover 2 positions until we can fully assess Bradley's injury recovery.

We need a cb and a rb in my eyes. Relying on an aging VVD, 2 kids coming back from injury and surgery, Gomez who's injury prone (who also covers 2 injury prone rbs, one of which isn't really a rb) is asking for trouble.

KP, he's in contract until 2027. I think you are confusing his contract at Villa, which Capology lists as being until 30 Jun 26.

He signed a 5 year contract in summer 22, hence still got a year.

Lots of people comparing Victor Munoz to Diogo Jota, in terms of playing style. But, honestly, he reminds me more of Ben Doak. Both like to take on their man and use their speed to go beyond, throw in a skill or a deception, then go. A little one dimensional, but really excited to see how Iraola hones his craft.

These are the kinds of player Iraola can mould into something special, and then suddenly they are worth 2 to 3 times what they were originally bought for.

He'll be rotational option, no doubt, but a genuine speedster and exciting player to have on the wing to come on against tired legs.

18 Jun 2026 08:16:25
Doak, to me, appears to rely a lot more on pace than skill though, whereas Munoz looks to me to have more trickery as well as electrifying pace. They both have that explosive burst to leave their man in the dust after selling a body feint though, so you're right there.

Watching a lot of footage, Munoz actually has very good technique and a great first touch.

Just hope this doesn't affect the re-signing of our saviour Darwin Nunez.

I'd say it's safe to say that not many on here will have seen much of the lad play, but by all accounts he is a pacey winger, this is exactly what we are crying out for, so happy days.

Get a decent right winger in, a combative, energetic Number 6, and a right back, and we should all then be very positive for the upcoming season.

JK, the Nunez talk was merely a smokescreen to make space for Munoz to come in. After all, that's what Nunez was the master of, making space for others... apparently.

I see Victor Munoz as similar to Craig Bellamy in the way he plays - the pace, aggressive running style, determination, and physicality. Both have that explosive movement, strong build, and relentless attitude.

Hahahahahaa excellent, Stuie.

Ben Jacobs is reporting Munez agreed to a six year contract, is he a reliable source?

18 Jun 2026 07:58:09
Being reported everywhere that he's signing for 6 years, seems like that's the case.

18 Jun 2026 08:02:12
Santiago Munez?

Romano reported it first, so probably means it's on.

Ed001 with Iraola now in charge it will be interesting to see how much young Rio improves because I can't think of any player improving under Slot.
Rio has a lot to improve on he does fall asleep at time and defensively and his end product does need improvement.

{Ed001's Note - it is really up to Rio now, he has to realise that you can't just wave your legs around and make a career out of that. He has to work hard for the team.}

18 Jun 2026 06:58:16
Hi Ed, I agree. Work hard physically but also mentally. Out of possession he needs a lot of work positionally and decision making wise. Seems to have a tendency to switch off.
This is one of the things that impresses me about Diomande. Seems good out of possession as well as potentially game changing in possession

Seems to have a tendency to switch off... He's 17, lads, of course he has a tendency to switch off at times. I get it, they have to be judged as part of first team squad, but give the kid a chance.

All the ability is there though, I do agree, like with every youth player, attitude will be key, if he can keep his feet on the ground and listen to the coaches and be the type that doesn't think he's made it before he truly has then we've got a potential star in the ranks.

Always a big if, though, especially with the money thrown around for young lads these days.

18 Jun 2026 07:51:51
You can't blame Rio for his work rate that last season, when the senior players around him were just sauntering aimlessly round the pitch most of the time.

I can't see Iraola putting up with that this season and I'm excited to see it.

Agree2

18 Jun 2026 08:01:14
Trust me, at 17, all teenagers can switch off.
Have 2 at home now.

They can ditch off mid sentence. It's astounding to watch. 20 year old at work, good lad. But I'm always unsure if he's listening.

Chuffed we made our first signing today.

ED1 wave your legs about, has made me giggle far more than i think it should haha

Kid 17 getting stick for switching off. 🤣 What about all the senior players who do it, he has a lot to learn but looks like he is willing to do that, adding with his skill, speed, etc, he'll be fine.

Cheers for the info.

Obviously don’t know anything about Munoz other than what I’ve consumed on YouTube over the last hour lol (thanks time off in lieu…. 😂)

Had a cause to pause as his movements, agility and ability across the front line reminded me so much of Jota.

18 Jun 2026 07:02:38
I was watching and thinking the same in some of the clips, that there was a similarity to Jota. I also thought he looked similar to Bowen, although obviously mirrored as Munoz is a right footer coming from the LW.

What really stood out as a difference to Jota and Bowen, though, was his raw pace. He looks frightening to have running at you as a defender. There were a few clips where it looked like he'd overrun the ball and taken a heavy touch, but then he'd nip it away from the defender at the last second, and either leave them for dead, or draw a foul.

I like this sort of signing. Getting the talent at source, rather than waiting for him to have a few good years for Palace, Brighton, Newcastle, etc., and then cost 3 times as much!

Agree6

18 Jun 2026 08:04:59
I'm not familiar with the player, but looking at his heat maps and stats from last season and the fact that Newcastle were looking to bring him in to replace Gordon, he looks like he shares a lot of similar characteristics, in that he is ridiculously fast, loves having the ball to run at players one on one, is very busy in the attacking third, can play across the front line, is a willing presser, and is extremely hard working off the ball. The problem is that, like Gordon, he also looks like a very transitional player who thrives in open space.

We don't know how he would do against a set and packed defense. He costs three times less than Gordon, though, and probably has a higher ceiling. He got into the Spain squad playing for Osasuna, and was one of the standout young players in the league in his first season of top flight football. The upside is tremendous for this kid, and he could easily double his price in one year, and triple it if he can continue to improve.

Hopefully with the signing on Munoz, the good chance of Diomande and the wishful though of also Barcola, does this mean the end for Gakpo?

Does anyone know where Gakpo which clubs are interested?

18 Jun 2026 07:07:17
Assuming we bought all three, I'd still keep him, at least until Hugo is back, knowing we've lost Mo and will possibly lose Fede. For me, Gakpo would be a good squad player who can do a job on the left or up front if needs be.

If we are to challenge for the PL, CL and the domestic cups over 60+ games, it is the squad that will win things, not our first choice starting 11.

Agree1

18 Jun 2026 07:53:38
I suspect that Munoz means no Barcola. I can't see us signing all 3.
