Listen me out. I will 100% sell Szobo to the highest bidder above 100M if he doesnt commit to a new contact by 31 July.
The fashion disatanista gives me bad vibes esp after that episode on the pitch with fans and I feel he is dying to play for Madrid.

We cannot let this happen. Except for exceptional set pieces I dont see much in his game that we cannot replace.

And if no one bids over 100m?

Or if he isn't interested in joining whoever does?

Not Liverpool related but there has to be better ex pros who can co commentate. Lee Dixon has got to the worst and it seems like he is ITVs lead man. He’s truly awful. 😩

Quite a few of them are a tough listen, to be honest. I just switch off from them and just watch the game. Rooney is terrible.

The other thing I can't get my head around is all these pundits flown out, expenses paid, etc etc, to sit in a studio with a nice panoramic view of the city to watch a match when they could sit in a studio in London. Jobs for the boys.

Malik Fofana linked to Spurs, shame. I would preferred him to Barcola with Diamonde.

I do like Fofana, but seems we've moved on from last summer when it looked like we were buying him.

He hasn't kicked a ball for 10 months now due to serious injury. Maybe he is as good as he once was, but I seriously doubt it!

Munoz looks a decent player, but if he is being regarded as anything more than a squad player, pretty worrying. I'd regard him as the Jota replacement.

If he is a starter, we will have over a quarter of our starting team under 6 foot in Munoz, Wirtz and Kerkez. If we do get Stoke-ball again next season, we will be in trouble.

Although I don't think Wirtz will last long in the first team under Iraola.

I think we should get Paul Millar up front to cover Ekitike, just to keep Bob happy.

After all, it's the height that matters, not the skill.

18 Jun 2026 13:47:42
Can't imagine he's being brought in as a starter, far too much of a gap between him and Barcola, who I still expect us to pursue. Seems like we're looking for depth and versatility across the forward line to both cope with Iraola's style and provide assistance for Isak. All the wingers we're being linked with play both RW and LW.

Gakpo is probably leaving so it's like for like in terms of a left wing option. I would think the Diomande move will be completed for the right side, and Barcola will end up elsewhere, possibly Arsenal.

After that, a centre mid, likely Wharton, and then a right back, Koyode, will complete the first team business. If Macca and Curtis go, we may need another centre mid, unless they think Trey is ready to step up.

I don't think we're spending 40 million euros on a winger who isn't good enough to start.
We aren't Man City. If we're nicking him off Newcastle, we rate him.
We spend 10-20 million euros for squad players.

3 players under 6ft and you're getting dramatic? Kerkez is 5ft11 as well, haha.

PSG are the best side in Europe, and they beat Stoke/Arsenal in the CL final. With 6 players starting that game under 6ft. Neves, Mendes, Hakimi, Dembele, Vitinha and Doue are all under 6ft. Marquinho's and Kvara are only just 6ft, and Pacho and Ruiz are 6ft2. One of the shortest teams Arsenal faced all season, and they absolutely battered them.

Arsenal were extremely lucky to make it to penalties.

Defending set pieces is not all about height. Otherwise we'd have been good at it last season. Virgil 6ft5, Konate 6ft4, Gakpo 6ft4, Isak 6ft3, Gravenberch 6ft3, Ekitike 6ft3, Szoboszlai 6ft2, Gomez 6ft2, Jones 6ft1 etc.

Dangerously re-opening the Emma Hayes debate.
My wife is sexist when it comes to football and was saying switch her off when Emma Hayes was talking.

However, I think her appearance, sex, body shape and accent, presentation medium (blackboard and kitchen worktop) mean that her analysis is being dismissed too easily.

She makes some insightful and clever observations and is clearly a good coach.

I’d say the main question is whether this belongs on World Cup footy on a mainstream TV channel where a lot of non footy fans will be watching.

I doubt they’ll follow what’s being explained and end up pointing to her accent, sex, kitchen worktop etc as to why she shouldn’t be on TV.

For me the main problems are Rooney and Giroud, the charisma twins. Should never be anywhere near TV. One can’t even string normal sentences together and the other just ends up using 1000 words when 4 will do.

Bit like this post !!!

I felt sorry for her tbh Ed

She's clearly a very good coach but the production team chucked her under a bloody big bus with that shockingly bad setup & left her wide open to ridicule which is exactly what has happened.

She looked uncomfortable as well and most likely felt Roy's eyes bearing down on her!

There is no rise in misogyny, nor rise in racism, nor crime, nor poverty, nor any other buzz word political stuff. There is merely a rise in perception and reporting/posting.

The point is, politics and football should be kept separate. If people can criticise any of the male pundits (which they frequently do and often with more venom) then the female ones should not be immune either.

The world will never be a perfect utopia. We need to accept it and move past this chip-on-the-shoulder nonsense, because it solves nothing and bogs actual progress down.

9

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - everything is intertwined with politics, there is no keeping things separate. No we don't need to accept it and move past it, the idea is to keep trying to improve things with that as the aim, even if it is never achieved. Just accepting bigotry and racism etc is moronic. To even suggest we should do so just shows up your thinking as backward.}

10

18 Jun 2026 19:34:58
Sorry ed, but thinking you can eradicate tribalistic human nature is moronic. We will never get to the point where people universally agree or where everyone feels like they're part of an inclusive environment. There are too many people with too many different things going on and too many different needs, wants and opinions.

Someone gets offended that person X gets a leg up, someone else gets offended if they don't. Without knowing who person X is which offended party is right? Only one's individual prejudices would visualise who person X is automatically.

It is easy to think that bigotry only comes from one source or is aimed at certain groups of people, but intolerance is everywhere and aimed at all types of people, particularly today.

My point is resilience is far easier to teach en masse than universal acceptance of everyone else. Not to say we shouldn't teach that it's nice to be nice, but a utopia is impossible.

7

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - nobody has said it can be eradicated. If you weren't so busy being a dick about it, you would read and see that I said the problem is that you want to just give up and just accept people being dicks. That is when it all turns to crap and we end up with orange paedophile rapists running countries and tiny Tommy ten names organising racist marches across the country. The point is to keep trying to make it better.}

I am well aware of and what is most frustrating about many "tolerant" people is that if I took that tone with you, you'd ban me. I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm trying to be balanced about the nature of people.

I am genuinely offended, by the way. Not cool, just because I think differently to you.

According to Fabrizio Romano we are looking to sign Victor Munoz. Giving a hear we go but I've not seen his name mentioned before.

All the best have a bit of ego ed.😉That's why all the Everton lads are so humble.

If Luca Eden makes it, he's proof that anyone can make it through hard work and dedication.
My middle lad played against him for years on the Wirral and he was decent but not standout.
However, I saw him a few years later play against my lad in a schools cup final and he ran the show without breaking sweat.

He reminds me of Adam Wharton. Not blessed with pace, but has the midfield attributes of tenacity, reading of the game, close control, use of the body, passing range and vision to have a chance.
Odds remain against him, however, as they do for the majority of academy lads.

Does anyone think John Stones would be a good free signing, to help VVD bed in the 2 new centre backs & play if required?

Our medical staff have enough on with the usual suspects.

17 Jun 2026 14:53:12
No. Stones spends most of his time in bed. Injured.

2

17 Jun 2026 15:19:45
He should go to Madrid to help them bed Konate in.

3

17 Jun 2026 18:06:27
He would be good company to keep Jo Gomez company in the Treatment Room.

17 Jun 2026 19:41:15
No thanks. Injury prone and washed up.

17 Jun 2026 20:12:52
I'm amazed he's got a start tonight, shows you the shortage of English centre backs right now. Not sure how Madueke starts as well, but we should have enough to beat Croatia.

17 Jun 2026 20:14:10
Stones starts against Croatia... Let's see what he still has to offer.

17 Jun 2026 21:40:11
When you say to bed them in, do you mean to actually put them to bed at night? Might be ok for that.
