Did anyone see what Enrique said in response to the Madrid lizards? Not LFC related but a worthy reminder to the players that think the grass is greener over there.
Luis Enrique responds to reports of Florentino Pérez wanting both Vitinha and João Neves at Real Madrid:
"It's funny. There are clubs that look at a garden and think they can buy every flower they like.
Vitinha? Joao Neves? Of course everyone wants them. They're exceptional players. But football is not a museum where you collect beautiful pieces and display them next to old trophies.
The game changes. Cycles change. What won you matches five years ago won't win you matches today.
Some clubs still believe that whenever they see something shining, all they need is a white shirt and a presentation at the Bernabéu. Football doesn't work like that anymore.
We already saw this story with Mbappé. For years the world was told that destiny had already been written. In the end, football reminded everyone that players are human beings, not transfer-market fantasies.
What I find interesting is that the clubs making the most noise about other people's midfielders are often the same clubs still trying to solve problems in their own midfield.
When a king spends more time looking over the castle wall than fixing cracks inside his own kingdom, eventually the kingdom stops ruling.
Real Madrid are a giant club. Nobody debates that. But football rewards what you are today, not what you were yesterday. History can fill a stadium, but it can't press, defend, or control a match.
If I were a Madrid fan, I'd worry less about Vitinha and João Neves and more about why everyone suddenly thinks Madrid need Vitinha and João Neves."

Great point.

Deadky.

Deadly.

What a fantastic response. That's the job for those bell ends.

Lots of reasons to like Enrique. His disdain for Real Madrid is one of them.

Wow a thoughtful reply and an eloquent put down. Bit long winded when feck off ya gang of cxxts would do.

I’ve been told by sources close to Liverpool FC that they are reportedly monitoring the situation of Vinicius Junior amid growing uncertainty over his long-term future at Real Madrid.
Is Gakpo leaving? Be some replacement.
Liverpool know it's an extremely difficult deal, but they believe if there's even a 10% chance, it's worth exploring.
Opportunities to sign players of Vinicius' level rarely come around. He’s also open to the idea of coming to England and rumours are Liverpool will be front runners.
More will come out on this in the coming weeks…

Most overrated player I've ever seen.
05 Jun 2026 13:42:30
I would say the club could name 1000 wingers of interest before they get to Vini Jr.
05 Jun 2026 14:11:56
He's purely a product of the Madrid PR machine. Even Brazilians don't rate him that highly.
05 Jun 2026 15:40:31
Guy Gardner, you already told us this rumour under a different username. No one believed you then either.
05 Jun 2026 16:01:59
No thanks, Zero interest in that clown, wouldn't take him on a free, he's the polar opposite of the type of player we look for, not to mention Real would be asking for upwards of £130m for him. I don't believe for 1 single second that anybody at Liverpool is even remotely interested in signing Vini, he's an absolute nightmare to deal with.
05 Jun 2026 16:40:39
I agree Chewy, I actually think this guy is bad news for a dressing room. Doesn't strike me as a team player.
05 Jun 2026 23:29:18
He's a nob. Trouble with a capital T. That's a song btw......

Watched Netherland - Algerie last night. I saw a Dutch team playing more or less identical as last season's Liverpool. The same dross with endless sessions of Dutch defenders playing slowball on their own half. It's the Dutch way of football. 2 managers under United and Slot have proofed the pudding, at least in the Premier League. Algerie won that game.
I'm over the moon that the club saw the madness and chose Mr. Andoni Iraola. The club is turning back to the culture style that Jurgen left us. There is not written in the stars that Iraola will manage great success from the start. He might almost certainly need time. It's gonna be a revolution for a lot of the players, and the World Cup won't make it easier for him to prepare for the coming season.
However, I'm almost convinced that we will see a team trying to play exiting footy. And results will evolve to the better with some time.
Been picking up on Iraola stuff on the internet, and I really like this guy. A very active and forceful Trainer, and that kind of guy hit me more than a sleek camera-talker. He wantet himself a two year contract, that for me shows result ambitions, an puts pressure on his own performance. He is aware of the importance of learning the city and bonding with the fans.
Now, let us embrace him and his ideas. He's gonna give it all he's got. He said it himself. He wanted a big club, it's time for him to win something!

Agree with everything you have said, Tuktuk. I think he will get the best out of the players we have, including those in the development squads, and, with a few additions, we can look forward to progressive football and better performances and results.
In time, trophies will follow.
05 Jun 2026 08:22:03
I think you're right, Tuktuk, but if you watched the CL final, you'd have seen arguably the best footballing team in Europe play exactly the same way we did last season too.
That's because they played against a well drilled defensive team who got 11 men behind the ball and closed all the spaces. That's how the Premier League is now. It's hard to play good, attacking football when the opposition won't let you and just falls over under minimal contact every time they get the ball and choreograph set pieces with tactical fouls to gain an advantage.
I think the referees have a huge responsibility this season, and, moving forward, to stamp it out. They have to stop the tactical blocking, grabbing and fouling and not give fouls every time someone falls over under contact. They need to not allow teams to slow the game down and take an age over every restart.
Until that happens, this is the football we will see.
05 Jun 2026 08:59:27
First thing is the players will be fitter and not get out run every game, so performances will improve, add the change in style and hopefully we win more. At least it'll be worth watching.
05 Jun 2026 09:26:35
Even against a low block, if you have attacking players making runs for the likes of Wirtz to find you can still create chances. Movement in attack moves the defence around and creates spaces. Last season we had none of that - virtually no movement off the ball and players were just walking around or standing waiting for the ball.
That is why we could create nothing against poor teams who sat back. I'm pretty certain that Iraola won't put up with any of that walking around nonsense.
05 Jun 2026 13:22:31
If we move the ball quick enough we can beat the low block.
Klopp had the low block ... and just think how many chances we missed in his last season ... Nunez, for example, could have missed more decent chances in one game than what we created in a month of Slot ball.
05 Jun 2026 00:47:05
I see Arsenal and ManU are apparently trying to get Bouaddi. I was seriously hoping we would go for him. Lille apparently asking for 70mil but given his trajectory so far, he will be worth every penny. Aggressive MF, good on the ball, has clearly worked on his right foot in the last year as it is miles better than it was (suggesting he is not resting on his laurels but seeking to improve).
Passing improving. Looks like he has the pace and power to cope with PL.
04 Jun 2026 22:34:43
I don't know if this has been talked about already, I assume it has. But does anyone else think our new home shirt is bad?
It's honestly the first one I haven't liked in a long while. It looks like an old bedsheet I used to have as a kid.
05 Jun 2026 07:32:23
It's awful. It looks like the team have shorts from one kit shirt from another. Bin it now. Or make the red deeper. That's not Shankley red !!
05 Jun 2026 09:28:44
I don't mind the shirt, but I don't like the fact that it is a different red to the shorts.
05 Jun 2026 16:04:00
Yeah, they completely missed the mark with that kit. Thing is, that's actually the way it was on the original, but they should have taken some creative license and improved it. Same shade of red and run the pattern through the shorts and socks would have looked 10x times better.

Confirmed Iraola is the new coach on BBC and The Times.
Robbo called it weeks ago.
