Latest name one I’ve not heard being linked.
Francisco Trincao, 26 year old Sporting Lisbon winger - imagine this is one of the Liverpool want wingers so we get linked to everyone on the planet.
Anyone else heard anything on this one?

Yeh, I heard of this a few days ago, but I don't think he's good enough. He struggled when at Wolves, & I haven't seen much lately to say he's improved.

Saw an article on this a couple days ago, only seen him in highlight reels, looks a decent player, nothing crazy impressive, a little lightweight, but has a very good assist rate and a keen eye for a through ball.

Mentioned him as an option several weeks ago. Great scoring record and rarely injured. Full of fitness. Great backup option but not first choice for me.

When you think about signings, just ask yourself if you'd be confident starting away at the Etihad with them in the lineup. This is not FIFA, where you can win at the Nou Camp with Joe Allen utterly outclassing Xavi.
Trincao is nowhere near good enough for a team trying to win everything. No go, not happening, never happening.

06 Jun 2026 06:49:49
Gonna cost some money to have a squad of 25 like that, though, Lowe1FC. There's a lot to be done this summer. I doubt everyone we sign will be a superstar.
Agree5

06 Jun 2026 07:51:08
Florian, you don't sign backup players unless it is a goalkeeper in an emergency. If you need a backup, give a chance to an academy prospect and coach them. Top class squads are built upon buying better than what you have and gradually phasing out players that are on the way down. It works on both sporting and financial sides.
Agree4
Disagree0
06 Jun 2026 08:19:38
Trincao can do a job in a squad, same as Harvey Elliot, Curtis Jones, Divock Origi, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez, Tsimikas and countless others I can't think of right now.
"X" player is nowhere near good enough is the laziest, most useless form of analysis of a player in a squad.
Not every player we're going to sign is going to be the level of demanding a start, and academy players cannot be relied on to be back-ups.
Agree5
Disagree0
06 Jun 2026 08:43:15
Thanks for educating me, Lowe1FC. Who said anything about backup players? Although I very much doubt every signing we complete this summer will be a first 11 regular.

06 Jun 2026 09:20:00
Yes, Faith, let's just waste non home grown spaces on mediocre expensive dross, what a great idea... He's too slow, too lightweight, and doesn't look exceptionally good at anything. He's about as Spursy a player as you could find.
Agree4
Disagree0
06 Jun 2026 09:31:04
"Can do a job as backup" - goes on to list a bunch of players that largely proved to be either expensive, not up to standard, or homegrown (Elliot, Jones, Gomez).
You do not sign players to "do a job" in a squad, Faith - period - you will simply end up with an overpaid squad lacking in quality.
It is much better to sign two superstars a season and rely on the academy to fill in.
Agree4

06 Jun 2026 09:51:28
Our formula to be competitive has been to have a very good first team including two or three superstars on huge money, with the rest of the squad beyond the first twelve or thirteen players on much lower money who are hardly ever played except in cup games.
This has been the blueprint since Jurgen got established and has served us pretty well until injuries hit. We've been pretty lucky with the likes of Mo and VVD as they've been fit for most key games.
We moved away from that approach when we bought Isak as he was never going to be an ever present, and he was in the superstar bracket in terms of money. Wirtz seems to fit the profile fitness wise, but hasn't hit the heights yet.
Unless there's a big bump up in commercial revenues I can't see us moving away from the model and building a bigger first team squad in terms of depth. I think we'll basically replace like for like and retain a streamlined squad of about 12/13 first teamers, with the rest academy products and a few fringe players like Gomez if they're still around and the occasional free transfer like Matip.
Hopefully we move away from carrying players we're looking to rehabilitate and move on like Chiesa. We always seem to have one or so of them, it doesn't work and is a complete waste of money, and a waste of a place in the squad even though Hughes thought it was a market opportunity.

Would be a strange signing.

06 Jun 2026 15:43:29
My point is that we're not going to be buying starting calibre players to pad the squad.
We're going to have a mix of players capable of stepping in off the bench, starting their share throughout a season, and to, yes, do a job for us.

Remember my first post last Summer? The friend from Crosby who said Diaz had not renewed his lease.
I ask him for any gossip this Summer. He told me Toney intends to move to Everton if they can agree a fee etc.
He went on say LFC have earmarked a house in Crosby for a "big signing"!? Not set in stone but sharing because it fits the vibe of this message board or at least what it used to be!
Kind regards all YNWA!

Exclusive details | Michael Olise was the secret candidate Liverpool had been negotiating with for weeks. Liverpool had reached a full verbal agreement with Olise and his camp on Tuesday, 26 May. #LFC
⚠️ Absolute priority as a replacement for Mo Salah alongside the pursuit of Yan Diomande.
However, the deal collapsed yesterday, Thursday, for the time being. It remains to be seen whether club-to-club agreements can be reached.
Andoni Iraola approved the Olise deal after personal talks with the 24 y/o Bayern gem (Florian Sweattenberg).

Olise ain't happening, I also think he is overrated. I think he is excelling in a system rather than him being the best in the world, but maybe I am being harsh. I wouldn't be too confident in his hitting the same heights at another club and £130m is absurd when we need to bulk out this squad.

Both Olise and Diamonde, that would be fantastic, but £270mil, that's massive.

I read somewhere there was talk of shattered bone in the knee area. I would assume 18 months from the injury before he will be back to anything like full fitness - so it'll be pre-season 27-28, I would imagine, before he's back fighting for a starting spot, if at all.

It was a highly speculative social media post from Chris Williams, who has since deleted it. It seems like nothing more than the rantings of a Liverpool fan who wrongly claimed that the injury Bradley left the stadium with was not the one he suffered when he fell. Trying to suggest that the real damage was caused by Martinelli, which is completely false.
The damage to the bone is not news, it was known about since his initial scans. Both Liverpool and Martin O'Neill have stated Bradley is recovering well. He's been back training in some capacity for over a month now, obviously all indoor rehab work.

If it pays all for Diamonde, bring it on. Rayan is with the Brazil squad, another 19-year-old phenomenon in the making.
When Jamie Car-Rager and John Barnes question Andoni's appointment, you know Liverpool Football Club has got the right man?
Ask any Tranmere Rovers fan about John Barnes' management at their club.
He was sacked after 4 months, and two of them months were pre-season, June, July, and he only won two of his first eleven league fixtures, and he fully backed Slot for another season.
Agree13

05 Jun 2026 18:08:35
The fact Bayern want him, knowing they wouldn't get him cheap, shows exactly why we should want to keep him. When Olise was at Rio's stage of his development, he'd just come off a season where he'd made 4 appearances for the mighty Reading.

05 Jun 2026 18:29:23
Agreed, Florian, a constant criticism of Slot was the refusal to play youth and now people want the one that looks like breaking through selling. There aren't many 17-year-olds that have had the season he's had, of course he isn't the finished article, but with the right coaching, who knows. I hope we find out whilst he's here.

Kid probably just wants to play a bit more, and is scratching his head at how little game time he got vs Gakpo. The brains trust put Gakpo on £250,000 a week so probably felt compelled / contracted to play him as much as they did (3596 mins for Gakpo vs 952 mins for Ngumoha).
Football agent skullduggery most likely. If he gets bigger game time assurance, I'm sure he'll stay. Personally I think he deserves it.

05 Jun 2026 18:52:13
Rio hasn't even reached the ripe old age of 21 and some are advocating for a transfer. We need to give our young ones time to develop. We may have a big star on our hands. We will never know until we give him that chance.

05 Jun 2026 18:59:52
Just why would you sell Rio? Don't get it, absolutely no need.
Agree9

05 Jun 2026 19:01:58
Because they know full well he'd do reasonably well on a weaker league, and then be able to sell him back to an English team for 10x the price in 6-7 years' time. Loads of European sides are doing it.
Just look at Sancho, Edwards, and now Barca with Gordon.
It's all about milking the Premier League, I think, rather than seeing incredible talent. There's a reason England have won F-all for 60 years.

I really don't believe that Rio is going to become the world beater everyone thinks he is.
Don't get me wrong, he's been alright, and I hope he makes me eat my words, but I don't believe he's the new messiah everyone thinks.
Reminds me of when Jordan Ibe broke through and everyone was raving about how he was going to be huge and he's so much better than Sterling.
Or when Macheda scored a couple of wonder goals for the Mancs and they automatically decided he was the future.
Rio, in my opinion, has done alright, no more no less. He stood out in a toothless side because he seemed like the only player willing to get forward.
He'll probably do alright next season too, but people saying he's one of the world's biggest talents and stuff are way way way over-egging the kid.

I'd sell him in the morning and purchase Rayan from Bournemouth. He's going to be better than good. Rio is all hype and not much else. He's getting plaudits without doing anything special whatsoever. He's just a mediocre player for what I've seen of him.

Monstered? Relax with the melodramatics. 007's comment didn't 'monster' anybody. He made a bit of a joke in between facts, there was no disrespect. Carragher and Barnes have both shared a number of opinions over the years that have rubbed fans the wrong way or gone against the grain. 007 was simply alluding to that. There was nothing more to it.

Robertson is going to Spurs because he isn't at the required level for Liverpool any longer. Fabulous player though he was, moving to Spurs gives him a deserved opportunity to prolong his PL career at a team in a very different place to us - Tottenham are no rivals.
